It will be April 15, 2017, at 7 PM in the Culver City Council Chambers, 9400 Culver Blvd. 90230.
The program, as suggested by Mayor Jim Clarke, is a reconstruction of a 2004 concert, co-sponsored by NACUSA-LA, that focused on music by living Los Angeles composers and music especially written for the Council Chambers. The April 15 evening will feature the Lyris String Quartet of Los Angeles and Culver City’s Berkeley Price (clarinetist), Nancy Roth (violist), Stephen M. Fry (pianist), Warren Sherk and Deon Nielsen Price (composers). The program includes string quartets, film music from the1930s, and Deon Nielsen Price’s “Serenade in the Chambers” and “Tableaux for String Quartet and Clarinet” based on Culver City history with scene titles: La Ballona, Alabados y Fiestas, “Keep ‘em laughing” (Hal Roach), Sister Cities, and Enterprising Harry Culver.
